Morning INTRODUCTION TO ROMANTICISM
Afternoon THE LAKE POETS: William Wordsworth, Samuel Coleridge and life at Dove Cottage, Grasmere
Evening Preparation for the visit to The Lake District.
Wednesday 18/8
Full Day Excursion to Hawkshead – Wordsworth’s Grammar School, Grasmere and Dove Cottage. Walk to Rydal Mount (Wordsworth’s home 1813 – 1850)
Thursday 19/8
Morning THE BRONTË SISTERS – An extraordinary family
Afternoon Excursion to the Yorkshire village of Haworth. Walk to ‘Top Withins’ – inspiration for Emily Brontë’s ‘Wuthering Heights’
Evening Optional theatre visit or symphony concert
Friday 20/8
Morning WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Afternoon Preparation for visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon
Saturday 21/8
Full Day Excursion to Stratford-Upon-Avon: Shakespeare’s birthplace and a performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company
